The infamous Cape Cobra, which takes on the Cape Peninsula's hardest climbs along its 85km route proved to be a show of dominant climbing ability by our own Science to Sport coach. |

Lying 2nd on GC in the Sub Vet Proclassic series John was confident of out climbing 1st place rider Neil Swarts. On the Kommetjie climb John tested Neil who seemed to struggle following the slight attack and this left John confident for the remainder of the climbs.
All stayed together until the Maritime climb where John's Team Anderson Transport delivered him to the base in a perfect position where he went off the front to a 25sec crest over the top. Trying to go solo from there did not happen as the bunch caught him just before Blackhill where World Triathlon Champion Raynard Tissink went off the front and out of sight.
Putting team riders on the front of the small select group John attacked on the last roller at Silvermine alone and headed off after Raynard who was 2min up the final climb of the day - Oukaaps se Weg.
Catching Raynard with 400m to go, John attacked Raynard and soloed over the line in 1st and gaining enough points to take the coverted pink leaders jersey.
