First round of SA Cross Country Series | 25 February 2010 |

The first round of the MTN SA XC Series took place at the Rietvlei recreational park. The route was composed primarily of tight, rocky singletrack with short steep climbs which tested the riders stamina and technical skills.

Science to Sport athletes finished high up in all the important events. Renay Groustra battled both his teammate Oliver Munik and Ben Melt Swanepoel for 3rd place but eventually succumbed to both of them, finishing in 5th place in the elite men's race.

In the U/23 men, Dominic Calitz finished second to Philip Buys and ahead of his GT/Mr Price team mate Adrian Louw. Dominic's goal of podiums at the SA series races started off promisingly.

In the ladies U/23 race Caitlin De Wet finished in 2nd place behind her long time junior rival Mariska Strauss
