Best bike fit in Girona or Cape Town

The best bike fit requires a full biomechanical picture

Our bike fitting process is a holistic consideration of you, the rider. This attention to detail, paired with a deep understanding of biomechanics, is why we are confident our fits are the best the industry has to offer

An expensive bike with a sub-optimal fit is a poor use of your financial resources. You as the rider must be able to deliver every last watt of power to the pedals. S2S bike fitment considers your body, your bike and your training. The result is the best possible bike fit, designed for comfort, efficiency and power delivery.

S2S bike fits are done at our laboratories in Cape Town, South Africa and Girona, Spain. We use our ErgoFiT system with 3D kinematics and a custom interface developed by STT for Science to Sport. This, paired with Gebiomized saddle pressure mapping, gives us a complete biomechanic solution.

We apply these technologies using your individual measurements and a consideration for history and training load.

Basic Fit

In our Basic Fit, your individual measurements are taken after a simple interview. This information is used to create an accurate set of predicted bike fitting measurements using our proprietary ErgoFiT software. Your fit will be assessed with the 6-point ErgoFiT optimisation process, with you on the bike.

Professional Fit

Using the same bike fitting procedure as the Advanced ErgoFiT, the Professional ErgoFit further optimises all parameters, with full body 3D Kinematics, using our exclusive personalised STT technology to assess joint angles, stability and overall position.

Advanced Fit

The Advanced Fit is an extension of the Basic Fit, but includes additional assessment such as correcting leg length discrepancy, foot alignment and cleat positioning.  2D Kinematics (to measure stability) and saddle pressure mapping to assess a range of fundamental values, changes and movement patterns are incorporated into the bike fit.

Medical Fit

These consultations are only performed by Professor Swart and Dr David De Klerk. A medical bike fitting includes an assessment of injuries and unique intrinsic factors that may have contributed to the injury, as well as prescribed exercises and stretching required.  Using principles incorporated in the Professional Fit,  your bike fit is comprehensively evaluated.  A portion of this consultation can be claimed from medical aid.

YOUR BODY, YOUR BIKE, YOUR FIT

We’ve helped a range of clients find this optimal bike fit – this is what some of them have to say.

JoAnne Lynne - Road and Gravel Adventure Cyclist
Originally from Malibu, I moved to Spain to enjoy my Jubilada - a lifelong dream. I landed in Girona which has allowed me the opportunity to enjoy my retirement, exploring the region on my bicycle. This past year, I chose to have a custom gravel bike made, but custom doesn't necessarily mean it fits correctly. After experiencing some neck and shoulder issues I sought the advice of Science to Sport. They listened to my concerns and explained why I might be having these certain issues. We made some changes and double checked them. I can say that the changes made were sport on. I have been able to continue gravel riding, with great intensity, pain free.

After getting a new bike, I contacted Science to Sport for a fit. Having experienced some discomfort on longer rides, the saddle pressure mapping software was super impressive. It was good to see what saddle works - and what tweaking the saddle height does. This, combined with the advice of narrower bars has made for a comfortable ride, with a slight power increase too.

I have had bike fits on both my mountain and road bikes at Science to Sport, where they are incredibly professional, knowledgeable and efficient. The fact that the fit is totally objective based on data and proven science provides a very high level of confidence in the process. It also ensures maximum comfort on the bike and minimised injuries. When you get a new bike, a bike fit at Science to Sport is the first thing you should do!
Jesús Labena - Road Cyclist
Nothing felt right after changing my shoes so I arranged a bike fit, expecting a few small adjustments to ease the aches and pains I had started to experience on longer rides. I was impressed with the technology used to check my position, but the experience and knowledge of the staff to know the technology and understand how to correct my position was more impressive. The changes we made were really big – and the service during the fit and in the following weeks while I was adapting to the changes was brilliant. Having this professional bike fit is the best investment I have made in my cycling. Not only do I feel better on the bike, but the change in my pedal stroke and dynamics has improved my riding.
Ronney Macarthur
As a 51 year old recreational mountain biking woman, with only 3 years’ experience, I was advised by my skills coach (Amy McDougall) to book an appointment with Reece McDonald at SSISA for a bike fit. What could have been a very intimidating experience, turned out to be very informative and maybe a bit too “technical” for me, but Reece made me feel very comfortable, answered all my questions and I left the appointment knowing I was setup correctly on my bike and that I could trust my bike to get me safely down the trails.
