Dr Nicola Freitas brings together medical expertise, performance coaching experience, and a first-hand understanding of elite endurance sport. As a medical doctor with postgraduate training in Sports and Exercise Medicine, she he takes an integrated approach to athlete health, training, and performance.
At Science to Sport, Nicola supports endurance athletes through evidence-based coaching, performance testing, biomechanical assessments, and practical guidance around training, recovery, injury, illness, and long-term development.
She has a special interest in female athlete health, including RED-S, menstrual cycle hormones and bone health.
As a multiple Cape Epic finisher and MTB World Championships competitor, Nicola understands the demands of endurance sport from both a practitioner and athlete perspective. This experience shapes her practical approach to helping athletes train consistently, manage setbacks, and perform at their best.
